I've been a lot of things before I became this.I've been a lot of things before I became this.

I sold candies at Candy Corner. I worked at the luggage area as a sales clerk at SM Dep Store. I was a tindera at my mom's store before that. I even trained to sell Subaru car for three months while I was building my VA career on the side, because I needed the extra income and I was willing to do the work.

None of that was glamorous. All of it taught me something: how to talk to people, how to sell without feeling gross about it, how to keep going when a job wasn't the dream, just the next right step.

From there I moved into VA work my sister Mommy Pehpot open the door for me, then social media management, then websites, DM sales, and coaching. Each one built on the last. I didn't plan this path. I found it by saying yes to what was in front of me and paying attention to what I was actually good at.

Here's the "before" I don't usually talk about.

When I started building Nicz Escat (formerly Mommy Nicz Page), I looked around and saw a lot of content built entirely on kids, moments of them, milestones of them, their little faces doing the selling. And for a while, I felt like my page was nothing without doing the same. Like I had nothing to offer if it wasn't them. That feeling didn't sit right with me.

I didn't want my kids to be the product. I wanted them to have a childhood that wasn't performed for an audience, and I wanted to find out if I, on my own, without borrowing their cuteness or their milestones, actually had something worth building.

So I made a choice: build this brand lesser my kids in the content. That's the version of "not who I was" I'm talking about. I used to think my worth as a creator was tied to what I could show of my children. Now I know it's tied to what I actually have to say.

Here's what I know now the moment someone asks me a question and I get to answer it, or teach them something I've learned, is the moment I feel most like myself.

Why this path, and not another one

I have three kids: 13, 9, and 12 months. I chose this career, this way of working, because I wanted to be there for them while they're young, and I want to keep showing up for their hobbies, their school, their small daily needs, as they grow. Not just for them. For their dad too, so we can both be present, not just providing.

That's not a small thing to build a business around. It shaped everything: how I work, when I work, what I say yes to.

What a normal day actually looks like

Some days I'm out in the morning just staring at the bukid, letting my mind be quiet before anyone needs anything from me. Other days I'm curled up midday watching Vampire Diaries, because some comforts don't need a reason. This is the real version of "building a business that fits your life." It's not always productive. It's not always impressive. It's mine.

Where I am now

I'm not who I was. I'm not yet who I'm becoming. But I'm showing up anyway, in the raw, unfinished, in-progress version of this life, and I'm building Nicz Escat from right here in the middle of it.

If any of this sounds like you, come sit with me for a while.
